Introduction:
My name is Miya Black I was born in Provo Utah, I am 15. I lived in Springvale Maine for eight years and moved to California seven years ago. I found out about High Tech High because of Miles Stanton, and then I came here in seventh grade. I love having sports as part of my life.. but about one year ago I tore ligaments in my ankle and sometimes it still hurts so I’ve had to put spots on a pause for now. I do gymnastics as an extracurricular activity after the school day is over, I did cross country for the High Tech High sports team for a little while too but had to quit due to my accident. Something that I bring to class Is that I may be shy at first but I open up and bring energy. I have also been told I am welcoming, caring, helpful and have a positive attitude towards things. Something that I would like to get out of this class is trying new things, which has been off to a good start because I haven’t ever made rockets out of wood. I also would like to get to read more in class.
3. After watching some other students’ films, what themes or common traits have you noticed?
I have noticed people trying to add humor to their films, also lots said if their rocket failed or not.
4. Is there something you saw in someone else’s film, that you wish you would have done in yours? What was it?
I wish that ours would have had more serious parts to it but I also like it more entertaining because otherwise people will get bored of lots of serious films.
5. Do you see value in being able to create a film about your work? Why or why not?
Not exactly because all the films turn out similar, and we already write reflections on what we feel we could change for the better.
6. What are a few things you plan to do differently on your next film and why?
I plan to add more working video's.

- How did you feel on the first day of school compared to how you feel today? What things have contributed to any changes in the way you feel?
- If you could build a third Balsa rocket, what would you do differently and why?

Film:
So what my partners Molly, Paris and I decided we wanted our film to be about is this birdman. He tries to fly like all the other birds and airplanes he sees around him. When he tries he sees that he isn’t able to flying but instead he was falling. He had a rough fall and gets dizzy. Miles was included in our film making. He was the main character... our birdman. We chose to make our film about this because just like we hope our rocket will fly the birdman hoped he would be about to fly. Then when the rocket starts to come down we wanted that footage to be like the birdman’s perspective of when he falls. We chose this sort of plot for our film because it made sense to relate our rocket to the bird because they both fly and will come down. We also thought it would be a funny way to show our rocket film. I think a personal significance to this film is showing that you shouldn’t give up and try again. This I feel related to me because just like in gymnastics or sports you can’t just give up when you mess up you have to try again to get better and practice.
Overall project reflection:
I feel that our launch went very well. Our recovery wadding ended up working and we didn’t believe it would have work. We were very happy with how the launch of our rocket went. It went surprisingly very high and the parachute/ recovery wading came out when it needed to. I was a little dumbfounded with how this all worked out. I feel like the scratch build rocket was a cool little project that we had to do. It was cool to make a rocket and launch it then seeing how high it went! I thought our rocket didn’t turn out super well until we saw the launch because it turned out just fine!I think we all did well contributing to making our rocket a success. We all helped put it together and get the materials we needed to make this sort of launch possible. I think overall our launch was really well.
